Not to be confused with Circuit Road Hawker Centre, Circuit Road Market & Food Centre is a small hawker centre catering to the residents within the vicinity. While it used to be slightly inconvenient to get here in the past, today it is just a short walk away from Mattar MRT and MacPherson MRT. Housing just 16 stalls, it is definitely not the biggest hawker centre out there, but there are still a number of great food to check out the next time you’re in the area!
One of the most popular stalls at Circuit Road Market & Food Centre, YUAN serves up comforting bowls of porridge and handmade noodles. The second-generation hawkers have moved from several different locations before settling at their current site. The porridge here is made Cantonese-style and cooked till the grains are creamy and broken, while the noodles feature a flavourful broth that is simply perfect for rainy days.

If you enjoy a delicious plate of mee siam for breakfast, head over to Hup Hup Mee Siam, which is constantly rated as one of the best spots for mee siam in Singapore. A perfect blend of sweet, sour and savoury, the bowl is filled with bee hoon, taupok, hard boiled egg, beansprouts, and some spicy sambal belachan. They do a great lor mee and laksa as well, and the portions are generous considering how affordable it is.

What’s so special about 333 Carrot Cake is that apart from the usual black and white carrot cake, you’ll also find a very unique Indian-inspired Masala Carrot Cake here. Surprisingly, garam masala actually goes really well with carrot cake, and the aromatic mix of spices will capture your attention and appetite immediately. With a rich and spicy twist along with deliciously complex flavours, this is a plate of carrot cake you won’t forget.

For some classic fishball noodles and minced meat noodles, Tuck Bee Cooked Food is a good bet. The noodles are nicely cooked with a good texture, and the dry version is tossed in a flavourful sauce with some chilli that clings nicely to the noodles and it comes with the usual suspects of meatball, fishball, fishcake and minced pork.

Located right next to Tuck Bee Cooked Food, Xiang Yuan is a popular stall that draws in a queue during peak hours. They serve fried beehoon, noodles, peanut porridge, mixed veg rice, lontong, mee siam and kway chap, along with other specials on certain days. The side dishes options are decent, but what it lacks in variety it makes up for in taste and affordability!

Run by a mother-daughter duo, find wanton mee, braised chicken feet and soya sauce chicken noodles here. The wanton noodles are cooked till al dente, and while we’d say that the char siew is just average, the wantons are silky smooth and really nicely seasoned! Together with the savoury sauce, it makes for a satisfying breakfast and/or lunch.

Sharing its stall with 333 Carrot Cake, Hong Kee’s menu includes chee cheong fun and yam cake, perfect for days when you’re not up for something heavy. The chee cheong fun features silky plain rice rolls topped with traditional black sweet sauce and sesame seeds, while the yam cake is full of flavour and yummy with some chilli sauce.

Nasi lemak is well loved by everyone, and Xin Xiang Nasi Lemak is run by an elderly aunty who serves up old-school and home cooked style nasi lemak. The coconut rice is fragrant and fluffy, and you get to choose from sides such as crispy fried chicken wings, hot dog, fish fillets and more. Make sure to finish it all with a side of sambal chilli!

One of the more popular food stalls Circuit Road Market & Food Centre is No.10 Noodle House. Also serving bak chor mee and fishball noodles, the practically noodles are the same except one has meatballs while the other has fishballs. The BCM is tossed with chilli and a savoury mushroom sauce, then topped with ingredients like minced pork, stewed mushrooms and a piece of wanton. It might not be among the best BCM in Singapore, but it is a decent bowl and much better than some you’d find at food courts.
