#34 Hathaway

Hathaway in old English means someone who lives by a path across a heath, which describes its location at Dempsey. Like the name, Hathaway’s menu seeks to capture the context of our time and place through the lens of Southeast Asian flavours and crossroads. Indian, Malay, and Peranakan cuisines marry French and Middle-Eastern flavours and since they are all about being inclusive, Hathaway does not serve any pork or alcohol. Its brunch menu includes a Pengat Pisang French Toast – caramelised bananas stewed in coconut milk, served with a scoop of Apom Perkuah ice cream, raspberries and blackberries on brioche, as well as the Straits of Dempsey, which comes with a creamy butter chicken, house sausage, potato latkes, naan, and eggs.

#35 Terra Madre

Terra Madre is an Australian all-day dining destination encompassing a cafe, restaurant, bakery & a range of natural & clean gourmet products. Find a hearty, healthy menu that embraces the bounty of nature. Fresh produce, conscious ingredients, and local finds are used extensively. #36 Rakuichi Japanese Restaurant

Set within a relaxing space, Rakuichi specialises in authentic and tasty Japanese fare. Sashimi is a must to start the meal, and the fresh slices of raw fish are presented elegantly on a platter. Grilled meats are a highlight at Rakuichi – generous cubes of meat on skewers are presented on a small charcoal-grill and cooked before you creating smoke-kissed, lightly charred meats bursting with flavour. There’s also comfort food to indulge in, such as Soft-Shell Crab Karaage, plump Breaded Oysters that are crispy and creamy at the same time, as well as Enoki Mushrooms wrapped in thick strips of fatty bacon.

#37 Margarita’s Dempsey Hill

Explore a trove of Mexican grub at Margarita’s with bright and fiery flavours such as the Cheese Fondue that gets its kick from a dash of chiles and chorizos. The Nachos La Especial is another evergreen favourite, made with a seasoned blend of black beans, chipotle cheese sauce, jalapenos, guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo.
