Previously known as Golden Shoe Food Centre with a history dating back to 1984, the new Market Street Hawker Centre is now housed in the CBD in CapitaSpring. Occupying the second and third floors of the building, the space houses 56 stalls connected via escalators located in the middle of the spacious food centre. As it caters primarily to the CBD crowd, the crowd starts to pile in by 11:30 am or so, with long queues forming at many of the popular stalls. Just in case you haven’t figured out what’s for lunch, here are 16 stalls you should definitely try!
#1 Tiong Bahru Roasted Noodle House

Tiong Bahru Roasted Noodle House commands a long queue during lunch hours from hungry patrons eager to have their roast chicken, roast pork or char siew along with springy noodles or rice. Prices are affordable for how generous they are with their servings! Be sure to not confuse them with Tiong Bahru Wanton Mee, which is also housed within the same food centre.

#2 Hock Gooi Hainanese Curry Rice

You can never go wrong with a plate of Hainanese curry rice, and Hock Gooi Hainanese Curry Rice certainly delivers with their offerings of rice sets that come with Braised Pork, Hainanese Char Siew, Hainanese Pork Chop or Curry Chicken Wing. Feel free to add on ingredients such as egg, vegetables, meat and curry chicken to make it an even more hearty meal!

Ah Liang Ipoh Hor Fun draws in some of the longest queues at Market Street Hawker Centre, thanks to their super silky strands of flat noodles, as well as the herbal hor fun gravy that sets it apart from other hor fun stalls. You’ll have different varieties of the dish to choose from, such as Shredded Chicken Hor Fun, Crab Meat Hor Fun, Seafood Hor Fun, Fried Fish Dumpling Seafood Hor Fun, Fried Wanton Hor Fun and many more!

#4 Bee Kee Wanton Noodle

For wanton mee with a modern twist, Bee Kee Wanton Noodle is best known for its Truffle Wanton Noodle that’s tossed with white truffle oil and soya sauce. It also comes with slices of char siew and both soup-style and deep-fried wanton. Fret now if you’re a wanton mee purist, you’ll also be able to get the dish in the original version. #5 Tiong Bahru Wanton Mee

Another popular stall for wanton noodles in Market Street Hawker Centre is Tiong Bahru Wanton Mee. Go for their signature Wanton Mee which has a myriad of toppings – including two types of fried dumplings to go along with chunky pieces of char siew and soup wantons. The thick slices of home-roasted char siew comes with a good amount of fats, creating a juicy bite. Alternatively, you can go for their Shredded Chicken Hor Fun or Roasted Pork Noodle!

An old-school prawn noodle stall that has followed Market Street Hawker Centre since its days at Golden Shoe, find dishes such as Pork Ribs Prawn Noodles, Prawn Noodles, Intestine Prawn Noodles and Pig Tail Prawn Noodle. Make sure to savour its hearty broth that’s boiled for hours from pork bone and prawn stock, which goes perfectly with its dry noodles, which are coated in a savoury and spicy sauce.

Established in 1960 and previously known as Say Seng Dry Mee Pok, Heng’s Authentic Teochew Mee Pok has been perfecting its Teochew-style noodles for over 60 years. This stall serves up Teochew-style noodles and is now run by the third generation. Its Minced Meat Fishball Noodles feature springy noodles and come with pork dumplings, fishballs, slices of pork, minced meat, as well as fishcakes and braised mushroom. The bowl of soup that comes with it is light and flavourful, and absolutely delicious when consumed hot! Other items on the menu include Dumpling Noodles and Dumpling Soup
