19 Stalls to Eat Your Way Through Sims Vista Market & Food Centre

Established in the mid-70s, Sims Vista Market & Food Centre was originally built to cater to the needs of residents around Sims Drive. Many of the older HDB blocks have now been replaced with condos, or are empty lots now waiting for the next government tender. The food centre remains standing, and most recently underwent a renovation in 2021. It is packed with many Singapore hawker favourites with over 70 food stalls here! From braised duck to chicken rice, traditional kueh and nasi padang, here are some of the most interesting stalls to check out.

#1 T3 Airport Fish Ball Minced Meat Noodles

As its name suggests, this relatively new stall used to be located in the basement of Changi Airport T3. The owner, Madame Lang, hails from China but has mastered the art of preparing a comforting bowl of Bak Chor Mee. Noodles here are al dente while the chilli and black vinegar create the perfect spicy and sour kick. Do note that fishballs don’t come with their bowl of BCM, you will have to order it as an add-on!

#2 Green Chilli Chicken Rice

Green Chilli Chicken Rice commands one of the longest queues in Sims Vista Market & Food Centre with their one-of-a-kind chicken rice. What makes them so special is the green chilli sauce that sits atop a lightly fried chicken thigh! Served with basmati rice, the green chilli is sweet, savoury, slightly spicy, crunchy and addictive. The spice is manageable even for those who can’t tolerate spice well, but if you’d like to take it up a notch, you can pair it with some chilli padi!

#10 Keng Nam Chicken Rice

Run by an elderly couple, though they close from time to time whenever one of the them needs to see a doctor. However, the stall delivers an impressive poached chicken. The skin is jelly-like, the meat is juicy and tender with a slight bounce. It is drenched with a very robust, heavier than usual soy and sesame oil sauce, perhaps to compensate for the not so oily rice. Each grain is fluffy though and it serves as the perfect vessel for the yummy chicken
