The XLBs are completely handmade, with a medium-thin dumpling skin that yields easily, yet is also able to hold the yummy broth and savoury meat filling together nicely.

Another place which sells top-notch xiao long bao is Yi Dian Xin. The skin here is slightly on the thicker side, but the delectable meat filling and broth more than makes up for it. Kow Loon Hong Kong Tim Sum offers a variety of mouthwatering dim sum in a coffee shop setting. The skin is a little thicker than usual and the meat filling lacks a wow-factor, and they are also definitely not the cheapest in town, but they are still worth checking out if you’re craving for some dim sum and xiao long bao!

Another great option is Shou La Shou Beijing Restaurant, although they have one of the more expensive xiao long bao around. However, you’ll notice that their xiao long bao here are bigger than usual. Expect delicate and beautifully-folded dumplings with an excellent meat-to-skin ratio! The broth here seems to taste lighter than other xiao long bao here, but they are still tasty nonetheless.

Their handmade xiao long bao are absolutely addictive, and while they were not as visually appealing as the others on the list, the quality and taste of the filling and broth is top notch.

They have a huge list of other offerings like pan-fried jiao zi and porridge and they are also particularly renown for their la mian, made on the spot to ensure top-notch quality. Best had with a side of xiao long bao!

The owner of Yu Chu La Mian Xiao Long Bao used to work at a number of large Chinese restaurants in Singapore, but realised that people were being overcharged for the food. He ventured out to open his own stall, aiming to feed the crowd with good food at a fraction of the price. The taste of his xiao long bao definitely doesn’t disappoint, the dumplings contain a generous portion of meat in a flavourful broth, and it doesn’t break apart easily.
